Keeping it real in Bamako

I hesitated for a moment and missed out on the “Red Hot+ Riot” concert up the street at BAM since tickets sold out like hot cakes. Still, I can console myself with a few YouTube clips. The last clip is a soukou soukou by Les Wanyika, Kenya’s superstar band from the 1970s now partially reconstituted. For an even more Cuban-inflected style, check out the foremost mbalax proponents Orchestra Baobab.
